Mrs. Worthing was born in Newark, New Jersey. She was born into an Italian family with lots of food and noise. Mrs. Worthing attended Catholic School. As a child, she enjoyed sports, gymnastics, dance and music. As an adult her hobbies became reading, traveling and writing. Mrs. Worthing had always been inspired to become a teacher. School was hard for her and she thought that she wanted to help other children so it would be easier for them to learn. Mrs. Worthing attended Newark State College for her teaching degree and then went on to Towson University for her masters. Before returning to a career as a teacher, she worked as a legislative aide for Councilman McIntire. Mrs. Worthing specializes in reading and writing. She enjoys teaching those subjects the most. Besides being a teacher, Mrs. Worthing spends time with her family and volunteers in with her church community. Family is very important. Her favorite childhood memories revolve around family gatherings, summers at the New Jersey shore, and learning how to drive. Mrs. Worthing enjoys traveling and has gone as far as Prague in the Czech Republic. Like all people we have shocking and embarrassing moments. Mrs. Worthing was in an earthquake in California, which would shock any of us and embarrassed herself at her daughter’s soccer game by slipping in the mud. Mrs. Worthing, the reading specialist at Sparks Elementary, can be found in room 100 ½, which is the storage room between the two Kindergartens. Harry Potter would love it here.
