Mrs. Mathews

Mrs. Mathews was born in Baltimore, Maryland. Her parents started to cut down trees to build a house in Lutherville when she was born. As a child she loved playing outside in the woods!!! Whenever she went to Canada with her dad and her younger brothers she would always go fishing. She raised many birds and trained pigeons!!!!! One time one of them even followed her into school. Her favorite hobby was to collect things and she collected everything. For example pets, rocks, feathers, shells, and postcards from friends who traveled. She likes to travel places where she can collect things too. When she went to the Gulf of Mexico she collected shells for math class, found Wampanoag Indian relics at Plymouth Plantation, found facts about whales on a whale watching trip in Massachusetts, and in the Grand Canyon she went to find Navajo Indian artifacts in a cave. She wants to go to Carlesbad Caverns to study and watch bats. She has wanted to be a teacher since first grade. Her elementary school was in her back yard so she got to spend extra time helping the teachers. She earned her Early Childhood and Masters degrees at Towson University where she went to college. After college she got married and she started working for a check company. Her favorite subject to teach is math! She likes to play math games with her students. When she was raising her children started a nursery school for 3, 4 and 5 year olds. Her favorite thing to do now is play with her two grandsons.
