Sparks Sharks are Always Moving Forward! |
Susan Lindbeck grew up in Sparrows Point, Maryland. When she
was a child, Sparrows Point was a little steel town with houses, shops, and
churches. It was built around 1900. Robert Johnston, Susan's dad, worked in the
Bethlehem Steel Company and was Vice President for the company before he
retired. Her mother, Nancy Johnston, was a housewife and was always involved in
charities.
Susan
looked up to Jonas Salk and thought of him as a hero. As a child, Susan loved to
read, swim (she was on a swim team), and play field hockey and tennis. Even
though Mrs. Lindbeck is now an adult, she still loves to swim and read. Since
she doesn't have time to play field hockey or tennis, she has a love for
antiques and gardening. When Mrs. Lindbeck was little, she wanted to be an
occupational therapist (someone who helps disabled people become independent)
and an art teacher. Finally, in she decided to be an early childhood teacher,
Therefore, started to study this major. Mrs. Lindbeck chose this discipline
because she did, and still does love children and likes to share her reading
abilities with other students.
Some time later, Susan married Ron Lindbeck and since then
has been married for 33 years. She now has three children, Eric, who is 28 and
works with computers; Jen, who is 27, and is studying to be a nurse; and John,
who is 22 and wants to be police officer. We are all very lucky to have such a
devoted, caring teacher at Sparks Elementary!
