Arrival and Dismissal

Morning Arrival at the Parent Pick‑up Loop

Doors at the parent pick-up loop are kept locked during the school day for security reasons. Since morning arrival time is between 8:40 and 9:00, adult supervision is provided at that time and students can enter at the loop entrance during that time frame.  After 9:00, doors will once again be locked for security reasons. Children who are dropped off after the 9:00 bell will receive an orange late pass and will be considered tardy for that day.

In an effort to enhance the safety of all students, all parent drop-offs and pick-ups will take place  in the parent loop this year. The front lobby entrance will be reserved solely for our bus students.

Late Arrivals

It is very important that all students arrive on time to school. A late arrival means that the student starts the day at a disadvantage. All students are expected to be in their seats, ready to begin work, at 9:00 am. Students arriving after 9:00 are considered late and should follow these guidelines:

1.   Parents should park along the road in order to escort their child, using the crosswalk, to the office.

2.   Enter through the front door and report to the office.

3.   Parents should provide the secretary with a reason for their child’s tardiness.

4.   At that time students will receive a late slip which they can give to their classroom teacher and their name will be removed from the absentee list.

5.   These slips are maintained to document reasons for late arrivals.

6.   Days tardy are reflected on the report card. Letters will be sent to parents of students with multiple late arrivals.

Parking in the Bus Boarding Area

The bus loop is off limits to personal automobiles from 8:30 ‑ 9:15 and from 3:00 to 3:55 in the afternoon.

Those parents who are in the building during the day and who park in the bus loop area need to make sure that they have moved their cars by 3:00.  If you are going on a field trip please do not park in the bus loop during the day in the event that your return may be delayed.

REMEMBER THESE “PARKING OFF LIMITS IN THE BUS LOOP” TIMES

Visitor Parking

With a staff of over 60, our main parking lot is reserved for faculty/staff only. The only exception is for those with handicap parking needs. Visitors can park in the bus loop are between 9:15 am and 3 pm. Visitors can also park along the entrance road. When attending a field trip that requires all day parking, parents are asked to observe these same guidelines. Your assistance is appreciated.

Leaving School With Others

If you wish your child to leave school with someone other than you or your spouse, you are required to write a note stating the name(s) of the person(s) who will be calling for your child. Yearly permission will be granted for instances such as scouts.

Transportation Regulations

Transportation to and from school is a privilege afforded students.  Transportation is provided for 5 days of school to one destination.  When students' behavior is such that it causes the driver to be distracted from concentrating on driving, it places the bus and the students' safety in jeopardy. When this happens, students may be denied the privilege of riding the bus to ensure the safety of others and to avoid a bus accident.

Students will be expected to ride their assigned buses to and from school and be picked up and discharged at the same stop.

End of the Day Pick-up

If you will be picking up your child at the end of the day you must

·        Send a note to your child's teacher, (Reminder: Include the date, teacher and child’s first and last name on the note) (If you phone in a request it should be received before 3:00 p.m. in order for us to be able to notify your child before the end of the school day)  THIS MAY NOT BE DONE VIA VOICE MAIL.

·        That note is then forwarded to the office and your child's name will be added to the list of student names slated for‑parent pick-up.

·        Your child will report to the parent pick‑up area for dismissal at the end of the day unless your note indicates that they are supposed to report elsewhere.

·        Parents picking up their children need to do so in the parent pick-up area. For safety reasons, please refrain from using cell phones while in the parent loop. Parents must remain in their cars.

Students without notes will be asked to ride their assigned bus.  Students are not allowed to ride other buses, unless an emergency situation occurs.  These requests must be approved by an administrator.
